Abstract
The objective of the current study was to evaluate changes in older adults` psychological health (life satisfaction, social support, and depressive symptoms) who participated in a senior employment promotion program, and to analyze the size of positive changes by their socio-demographic characteristics at an exploratory level. Research subjects were community-living older adults (over 60 years old) who took part in a senior employment promotion program provided by six senior clubs in Busan Metropolitan city from March 2012 to December 2013. The results showed that the degrees of life satisfaction and social support were statistically increased and the degree of depressive symptoms were statistically decreased. However, there were no statistically significant differences in effectiveness by participants` characteristics. The findings of this study indicates that continuous participation in a employment promotion program play an important role in increasing psychosocial health and provided empirical evidence for the government to enlarge job promotion policy for older persons. Future studies should be conducted to address changes in psychosocial health by the types of senior employment promotion programs for social welfare policy to promote employment of the elderly.
